Start kneading and add the cold butter, cut into small pieces. Work the dough until you have a smooth, even ball, then wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for about 2 hours. After the resting time, take the dough and roll it out with a rolling pin into a thin sheet (4.5 mm, about 3/16 inch), then cut out little trees with a cookie cutter. Arrange the cookies slightly apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake them in a preheated conventional oven at 180 °C (350 °F) for about 12 minutes. When they’re nicely golden, take them out of the oven and let them cool completely before decorating them.Meanwhile, make the icing: in a bowl, combine the powdered sugar with the water and stir until you get a smooth icing. At this point, add the food coloring and stir again so the icing is evenly colored.Transfer the icing to a parchment paper cone and pipe the outline of the little Christmas trees, then fill them in with icing. Add sugar decorations to embellish them and let the icing harden at room temperature. Your Glazed Christmas Tree Cookies are ready to serve. If you want to make the cookies even richer, once the icing has dried you can add a further decoration with melted chocolate drizzled over the cookies in a thin stream.TipsBefore rolling out the shortcrust with a rolling pin, we recommend kneading it by hand for a few moments to make the dough pliable again and keep it from breaking. Alternatively, you can leave the dough at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before rolling it out. As for the icing, if it turns out too thick you can add an extra teaspoon of water or, if it’s too runny, add more powdered sugar. For a smooth, creamy icing, we also recommend sifting the powdered sugar.StorageGlazed Christmas Tree Cookies keep at room temperature, in an airtight container, for 3-4 days.Comments ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ × 4 / 5 You need to enable JavaScript to vote Cancel reply Leave a comment
