Method

  1. To make the Pfeffernüsse Spice Cookies, take a large bowl, pour in the flour, stir in the vanillin and add a pinch each of salt, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and black pepper. Grate half a nutmeg into the bowl and stir to blend all the dry ingredients perfectly.
  2. Put the butter, previously softened and cut into cubes, the honey and the brown sugar in the bowl of the stand mixer. Turn the machine on and beat for a few minutes.
  3. Add the egg and beat for a few more minutes. Pour the flour and spice mixture into the bowl and mix to incorporate it perfectly with the rest of the ingredients. When the mixture is smooth, turn off the stand mixer.
  4. With the dough, shape lots of balls about the size of walnuts and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced well apart from one another.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 °C (340 °F) for about 12-15 minutes, taking care not to let the cookies darken. Once they are ready, take them out of the oven and let them cool completely on a cookie rack.
  6. Once they are completely cool, pour a few tablespoons of powdered sugar into a bag, add the cookies, close the bag and shake gently to coat them with sugar. Finally, take them out of the bag, remove the excess powdered sugar and serve the Pfeffernüsse Spice Cookies. Finally, remember to download our App with exclusive content and fewer ads!
