Method

  1. To make the Nutella Christmas Wreath, first melt the butter and let it cool. Pour the all-purpose flour, Manitoba flour, yeast and sugar into a large bowl and mix. Warm the milk, add it to the mixture and stir again to combine the ingredients.
  2. When the butter has cooled completely, add it to the mixture along with the orange zest and work with your hands until the dough comes together. Once the ingredients are fully combined, knead vigorously for about 10-20 minutes.
Nutella Christmas Wreath, step 2: kneading the orange-scented dough
  3. After kneading, shape the dough into a ball, place it in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for about 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Nutella Christmas Wreath, step 3: the dough risen in a covered bowl
  4. Once the dough has risen, flour the work surface and roll out the dough with a rolling pin into a rectangle about 25 x 55 centimeters (10 x 22 inches).
  5. Spread the Nutella over the dough, leaving a couple of centimeters (about 3/4 inch) free around the edge, roll up the dough starting from the long side and press lightly on the ends to seal it.
Nutella Christmas Wreath, step 5: the dough spread with Nutella and rolled up
  6. With a sharp knife, cut the roll lengthwise, stopping a few centimeters from one end so the halves don’t separate completely. Twist the two strips of dough together, shape them into a wreath and press the ends of the dough to close it.
