The Mimosa is a light, refreshing drink with a low alcohol content that is really quick and easy to make. Known and loved all over the world, it was invented by a bartender at a Paris hotel in 1925 and takes its name from its color, which recalls the yellow of the mimosa flower.

In Italy this cocktail is served as an aperitivo, while in the United States it is sipped at brunch as a festive alternative to plain orange juice.

In the cocktails section of our site you’ll find more recipes to delight your guests with a great drink. But for now, invite your friends over: today we’re raising a glass of Mimosa together.

Method

  1. To make the Mimosa Cocktail, start by squeezing about half an orange: strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve and pour it into a flute. Add the sparkling wine, chilled from the fridge, then cut a slice from the remaining orange, make a small cut in it so you can perch it on the rim of the glass, and serve your Mimosa Cocktail. Variations and Alternatives

Add a splash of grenadine if you’d like to give your Mimosa a unique, original touch.

Storage

A Mimosa should be enjoyed right away: it can’t be kept, because in the fridge it would go flat.
