Caramel Spread is a creamy spread we can only call indulgent. With its caramel flavor, it is really quick and easy to make with very few ingredients that we usually already have at home. In fact, to make this soft caramel spread we only need sugar, brown sugar, cream, milk and butter.

Caramel Spread, not to be confused with Caramel Sauce, can be used to fill cakes and desserts and make them even tastier. For example, you can use it to make a Chocolate and Caramel Tart, a Caramel Cake or a Salted Caramel Tart with Chocolate Ganache. Now let’s get straight to the recipe for Caramel Spread.

Method

  1. To make the caramel spread, heat the milk in a small saucepan. In another small saucepan, cook the sugar over low heat with 4 tablespoons of the milk, stirring well until the sugar has completely dissolved. Keep stirring until the mixture boils and starts to dry out. At this point, add another 2 tablespoons of milk, then stir again until the mixture boils and starts to dry out. Repeat this about 3-4 more times.
  2. Add the cream to the saucepan with the remaining milk and heat it. Add this mixture to the sugar mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until it has reached a fairly thick consistency. Add the butter too and keep stirring. You can turn off the heat when the cream falls back into the pan in a thin ribbon as you lift it with a teaspoon.
  3. At this point, turn off the heat and keep stirring until it has cooled completely. Finally, blend the cream with an immersion blender. Pour the caramel spread into glass jars and store it in the refrigerator. Finally, remember to download our App with exclusive content and fewer ads!
